FAQs

What is your process for encapsulation?

I can do both Raw or Traditional Chinese Method (TCM) for encapsulation. TCM is believed the birthing person is Yin (or cold) after the birthing person. It is believed that using ginger, cayenne and lemon we can cleanse, preserve and warm the birthing person back to Yang. To do this, I steam the placenta with Cayenne, Lemon and ginger. I follow this with a dehydration process that usually lasts 14 hours. Finally, I will grind your placenta into a fine powder to place into the capsules for consumption. This method does yield a lower amount of capsules. The raw method is a similar process but it does not include a steaming process. This method does yield a higher amount of capsules. If you are GBS+ it is recommended to add a steaming process before dehydrating as we need to kill any bacteria that could be present.

What type of Capsules do you use?

My standard is a size zero clear vegan capsule.

What if my placenta is unhealthy, sent to pathology, or my placenta spoils?

In the case that your placenta becomes unusable, I will still provide memory services. I am also happy to take pictures and a video tour of your placenta if you would like. Depending on the circumstances of your placenta, I am happy to turn your placenta into powder for you to return to the earth. I will offer a refund for any services not provided. If I pick up your placenta to create art for you, I will keep $25 to cover gas and any supplies.

Do you work with those on a budget?

Absolutely! I offer payment plans that are quite flexible. All I ask for is communication that you’re needing an alternative payment plan and we’ll set it to match your needs. It is important to me that money is not a barrier to the services that you need to thrive in the postpartum period!

What are your certifications?

I am certified in blood borne pathogens and food handlers safety. I am trained in OSHA compliant cleaning protocols for food service. I am also trained in the arts of placenta encapsulation. I am happy to discuss my experience more during a consult.
